Diabetic foot problems impose a major economic burden on the health system and society as a whole. Costs increase disproportionately to the severity of the condition.
Although a number of economic impact studies have been conducted, the costs associated with the condition are not yet well understood.
D-Foot International is contributing to a global study on diabetic foot health economics. The project is owned by the World Health Organization (WHO) and executed by the Health Services Research and Health Economics of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD).
The protocol is currently being developed. More information to follow in the near future.
