A message from the President

Activities during the D-Foot International Diabetic Foot Awareness Week included a regional webinar programme throughout the week, the launch of the first series of diabetic foot Info Cards, the conferring of the first D-Foot International Board Commendation Award 2020 and the launch of the SACA Regional Chairs Nomination Awards.

Webinar programme

Under the leadership of the D-Foot Regional Chairs, each of the 7 Regions organised and presented regional webinars on the topic of the diabetic foot, broadcast on various days from 8-14 November during the Awareness Week. Registration and attendance were free.

On 14 November, World Diabetes Day, two additional, global webinars were broadcast. Michael Edmonds delivered a presentation on ”Ending avoidable lower limb amputations—the role of the multidisciplinary diabetic foot clinic” and Lee C Rogers spoke about ”Diabetes and COVID feet”.

All regional and global webinar presentations could be viewed live on the day and remain available as webcasts here.

Info cards

In collaboration with the IWGDF Guidelines, D-Foot International developed a series of diabetic foot Info Cards to be issued at a rate of one card per month. The first two Info Cards, one on ”How to manage people at risk of diabetic foot ulceration” and another on ”How to classify diabetic foot infection”, were launched in English and in translations on 14 November, on the occasion of the Diabetic Foot Awareness Week and World Diabetes Day.

D-Foot International Board Commendation Awards and the Regional Chairs Nomination Award

D-Foot has created merit awards to recognise people or teams who have made a special contribution to D-Foot International at the global and regional level. The first series of merit awards have been conferred on the occasion of the Diabetic Foot Awareness Week.
